Los Angeles’ sixth Road Bridge, a $588 million mission often known as the “Ribbon of Lights,” has misplaced its vacation glow as a few third of the bridge’s lights are out of order, the Los Angeles Instances reported.
The bridge and its ten illuminated arches grew to become an on the spot hit on Instagram and TikTok when it opened in July 2022 and a preferred spot for households, joggers, marriage ceremony photographers and copper thieves.

In December, copper thieves focused the bridge, inflicting a lot of it to fall into darkness. Images present open packing containers with wires on the bottom.
The FBI has been warning the general public since 2008 that copper thieves “threaten US essential infrastructure.”
The town councilor advised the Los Angeles Instances that about $500,000 in discretionary funds has already been used to restore lighting affected by the copper thefts.
“We perceive the impression of those thefts on the neighborhood and are dedicated to taking all obligatory steps to guard our infrastructure and preserve the protection and reliability of our metropolis’s lighting system,” the town’s public works division mentioned in a press release, per native outlet ABC7.

The bridge is greater than half a mile lengthy and connects the town’s Arts District with Whittier Boulevard and the historic Eastside.
Los Angeles has been stricken by a sequence of copper thefts over time which have affected infrastructure, together with the derailment of Metro railcars. The town has about 1,200 open circumstances of suspected wire theft, and broken infrastructure has but to be repaired, the Los Angeles Instances reported.
Authorities are nonetheless assessing the injury.
